Ettore Sottsass

Ettore Sottsass was an influential Italian architect and designer best known for pioneering postmodern and radical design through the founding of Memphis Group in 1980. After graduating from the Politecnico di Torino, he established his Milan studio and later created iconic works for Olivetti, including the famous Valentine Typewriter. Sottsass explored furniture, ceramics, architecture, writing, and experimental art, becoming a leading figure in contemporary avant-garde design. His works have been exhibited in major institutions such as Museum of Modern Art and Centre Pompidou, while his lasting influence on modern design earned him numerous international honors and awards.
